Medical school transcripts, Dean's Letter, USMLE Step 1/COMLEX Level 1 completed at the time of application, USMLE Step 2/COMLEX Level 2 passed before the start of residency, minimum of 3 letters of recommendation with 1 in SLOE format. We understand that current restrictions may make this impossible for some and exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis
What are the minimum board scores and attempt limits?
There are no minimum scores or attempt limits for taking these exams, but if all other factors are equal, board scores may determine if an applicant receives an interview invitation.
What are the requirements for graduates from foreign medical schools?
Current ECFMG certificate (in hand by time of application), US citizenship, US permanent resident (Green Card), J-1 visa.
Does it matter what year I graduated from medical school?
Is US clinical experience required?

Unfortunately we no longer offer an ED observership.

11 EM-1 positions starting July 1st with 33 total residents in the program.
Interview Day Logistics
We offer a discounted rate at the Parkview Hotel in Syracuse, NY, 0.5 miles from University Hospital and 0.2 miles from your interview location in our EM-STAT building. We offer transportation to and from the pre-interview dinner and complimentary shuttle service to and from your interview location.
We host a pre-interview welcome dinner with current residents the evening before your interview day at one of the local bars in downtown Syracuse. Transportation is provided from the Parkview Hotel.
Shuttle service is provided from the Parkview Hotel to your interview location on the morning of your interview day. The day will begin with an introduction from our residency program director, Dr. Klawitter. Candidates will then interview with faculty members, chief residents, and Dr. Klawitter. Lunch is provided, and applicants will have the opportunity to speak with current residents . Tours of the simulation center at EM-STAT and the University Hospital Downtown Campus Emergency Department proceed in the afternoon. Shuttle service back to the Parkview Hotel is provided at the end of the tours.
